Dog Licensing

State law requires every dog five months or older to be licensed. Licenses are only issued at Town Hall by mail, or in person by appointment with the treasurer. Dog license payments are due by March 31st. A late fee of $5 is due for any license received on or after April 1st.  

Payments must be made separate from your taxes. 

Please note that Dane County increased annual dog license fees effective January 1, 2025, as follows: 

• $22 Neutered males/Spayed females  
• $31 Un-Neutered/Un-Spayed Dogs  
• $66 Kennel License (12 or fewer dogs), $31 for each additional dog  

To license your dog, complete the dog license application form (new for 2025) here. Application forms are also available at Town Hall or by email upon request. 

Mail the following items to Treasurer, Town of Springdale, 2379 Town Hall Road, Mt. Horeb, WI 53572: 

• Completed application form 
• Rabies vaccination certificate 
• A self-addressed, stamped envelope 
• A check for your license fees (including any late fees, if applicable) made payable to “Town of Springdale” 

Upon receipt of these items, the Treasurer will return your license in the self-addressed, stamped envelope you provided. Please direct any questions to the Town Treasurer at treasurer@springdalewi.gov.
